South Korean soprano Hera Hyesang Park has established herself as one of the most compelling vocal artists of her generation.

In the 2026–27 season, Hera Hyesang Park will debut the role of Mimì in La bohème with Korean National Opera and sing the soprano solos in a staged production of Bach’s St. John Passion by Calixto Bieito with Teatro Arriaga Bilbao. She will make her debut at the Verbier Festival singing the soprano part in Carmina Burana. Additionally, this summer she will perform gala concerts with Elīna Garanča in Grafenegg and Riga, with Plácido Domingo in a celebration of Georg Solti’s legacy, and will join Xabier Anduaga for a recital at Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Also, this season she will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the BBC Philharmonic, Berg’s Seven Early Songs with Stavanger Symphony, and Mozart’s Requiem with Ann Arbor Symphony; she will tour Asia in recital with pianist George Harliono, and perform Canteloube’s Chants d’Auvergne with the NHK Symphony.

Highlights of the 2025–26 season included a role debut as Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Metropolitan Opera with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, which she will reprise at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2026, as well as role debuts as Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo in Boston and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro on tour in the UK. In concert, Ms. Park performed Strauss’s Vier Lieder and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Thierry Fischer and the São Paulo Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the Berlin Philharmonie under Maxim Emelyanychev, and Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder on tour through Asia with Sascha Goetzel in Ulsan and Seoul, and Mahler 4 with Hannu Lintu.

Previous seasons at the Metropolitan Opera include Pamina in The Magic Flute, Nannetta in Falstaff, and Amore in Orfeo ed Euridice. She made her debut at the Staatsoper Berlin as Adina in L’elisir d’Amore, the Paris Opéra and Bayerische Staatsoper as Despina in Così fan tutte, Adele in Die Fledermaus at Staatsoper Hamburg, Susanna and Despina at Glyndebourne Festival, Servilia in La clemenza di Tito at the Edinburgh International Festival, Musetta in Barrie Kosky’s new production of La bohème and the title role of Paul Abraham’s Dschainah – Das Mädchen aus dem Tanzhaus at the Komische Oper Berlin, the title role in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen at Des Moines Metro Opera, broadcast by PBS, as well as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette and Violetta in La traviata, both at Korean National Opera.

A distinguished concert artist, Hera Hyesang Park has sung Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, appeared at the New York Philharmonic’s Spring Gala, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the Vienna Symphony, Handel’s Messiah with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem at Carnegie Hall, Mozart’s Mass in c minor with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2 with the BBC Proms, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with Boston Baroque and Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli at the Tongyeong International Music Festival. An avid recitalist, she has appeared on prestigious stages, including tours with the Takács Quartet and the Metropolitan Opera ensemble.

Hera Hyesang Park records exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon. Her debut album “I am Hera” was released in November 2020, followed by her second album “Breathe,” which was awarded the Opus Klassik Award for Videoclip of the Year in 2024.

Honors and awards include First Prize in the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Competition, Second Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Montréal International Musical Competition, Second Place overall and First Prize in the Zarzuela at Operalia, Fifth Place in the Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition, First Place at both the Korean National Opera and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts competitions, and Korea’s Minister for Culture Prize.

Hera Hyesang Park resides in New York City and is a graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’sLindemann Young Artist Development Program, during which she made her Metropolitan Opera debut as the First Sprite in a new production of Rusalka conducted by Sir Mark Elder. She also sang Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, conducted by Harry Bicket, and the Dew Fairy in Hansel und Gretel, conducted by Sir Donald Runnicles. A graduate of The Juilliard School with an Artist Diploma in Opera Studies, Ms. Park performed Amina in La sonnambula and Fiorilla in Il turco in Italia, for which Opera News praised her “refined technical command and expressive bel canto artistry.” Before moving to the United States, she received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Seoul National University. In addition to her performance career, Ms. Park is passionate about vocal education and serves on the voice faculty of the Solti Accademia, giving masterclasses around the world.
